You generally pay nothing for home health care services. There is one exception. If you need a wheelchair, walker, or other durable medical equipment, you must pay 20% of the amount Medicare approves. Medicare picks up the rest of the cost. If you have Medicare supplemental insurance, this cost may be covered.
When you need services from a home health agency, there are two important things they should tell you before they provide the services:
- If you must pay any part of your bill, and
- If Medicare will not cover any of the services or items they are going to give you.
They should tell you this and give it to you in writing.
