People With Medicare
What if I still have an old Medigap policy with drug coverage (an H, I, or J policy) ?
If you join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan:
- You can keep your current policy—but without the drug coverage, or ask your company if you can switch to another Medigap policy.
- You can see if you can buy a new Medigap policy that does not have drug coverage from a different company. They would review your application as if you were a new applicant. You would have to meet their usual medical underwriting requirements.
Your "Medicare & You 2013" handbook can tell you more about your options. Also, the "2013 Choosing a Medigap Policy" has details about Medigap plans. You can find out what each plan includes and decide what will work best for you. You can get them online at Medicare Publications.
