People With Medicare

Will the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage change the other help I get?

Qualifying for Medicaid - When you qualify for extra help with costs with Medicare, you will be qualified for the calendar year. You will not lose the extra help even if your Medicaid status changes month by month.

Other Medicaid services - These will stay the same. Only the drug part will change.

Other assistance programs - They could change. If your medical costs go down, it could change the amount of other assistance that you qualify for. Examples are food stamps and housing assistance. You will still be able to get energy assistance, or help paying to heat and cool your home. Check with the benefit specialist who helps you with these programs or your local Area Agency on Aging for more details.
