How much will the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage cost me?

Because you have Medicaid, you automatically qualify for Extra Help paying for your Medicare prescription drug costs.

You will pay:

  • No monthly premium,
  • No deductible, and
  • No more than $6.60 in 2013 ($6.35 in 2014) when you fill a prescription your plan covers. Depending on your situation, you may not have a co-pay at all.

When you qualify for Extra Help, you qualify for the entire calendar year. You may see ads that show your plan with a deductible and higher copays. Those costs will not apply to you because you qualify for Extra Help.

If you join a plan that has a premium higher than the average premium for your region, you will have to pay the difference.

If you live in an institution like a nursing home, you will have no premiums, deductibles or copays for your drugs.
