What if I drop my Medigap drug coverage?
You will have two options for your Medigap coverage if you join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan:
- You can keep your current policy—but without the drug coverage.
- You can cancel your current Medigap policy. You can buy a new Medigap policy that does not have drug coverage from a different company. They would review your application as if you were a new applicant. You would have to meet their usual medical underwriting requirements.
Your "Medicare & You 2009" handbook can tell you more about your options.
The "2009 Choosing a Medigap Policy" has details about Medigap plans. You can find out what each plan includes and decide what will work best for you. You can get them online at Medicare Publications.
