If I live in a nursing home or other institution, do I need to join a Medicare drug plan?

Yes, if you want Medicare to cover your drugs. If you have Medicare and Medicaid, Medicaid will not pay for prescription drugs that the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage covers.

However, you can switch to a different plan at any time.
