People With Medicare

Deciding when to start Part B.

There are different parts of Medicare that pay for different types of services:

  • Medicare Part A pays for hospital stays, some care outside the hospital, and hospice.
  • Medicare Part B pays for doctor visits, outpatient care, and home health care.
  • Part D helps cover prescription drugs.

When you are first eligible for Medicare, you may not need all these parts right away.

Find out if you should get Part B when you turn 65.
